91.10.5 Monitoring requirements of aeroplane operator's annual CO2 emissions

 

(1) The monitoring requirements of an aeroplane operator's annual CO2 emissions as prescribed in Document SA-CATS 91 shall be applicable to an aeroplane operator from the year after it qualifies to be classified in terms of regulation 91.10.1.

 

(2) The monitoring requirements referred to in subregulation (1) shall be a applicable to a new entrant from the year after it meets the requirements referred in 91.10.1.

 

(3) An aeroplane operator who falls within the scope of applicability of regulations 91.10.1 after 1 January 2021 for the first time and without qualifying as a new entrant, may either use—
(a) a Fuel Use Monitoring Method, as prescribed in Document SA-CATS 91, or
(b) the ICAO CORSIA CO2 Estimation and Reporting Tool (CERT), as provided in Appendix 3.

(4) If an aeroplane operator referred to in subregulation (3) does not have sufficient information to utilise a Fuel Use Monitoring Method, as prescribed in Document SA-CATS 91, such aeroplane operator shall request an attributed State to approve the use of the ICAO CORSIA CO2 Estimation and Reporting Tool (CERT) for a period lasting no later than 30 June in the year after an aeroplane operator first meets the requirements in regulations 91.10.1 (year y+1).
