| (1) |
An air service operator shall establish minimum flight altitudes for all route segments to be flown which provide a required terrain clearance, taking into account the operating limitations referred to in Subpart 8 of this Part and the minimum altitudes provided in regulation 91.06.32. |
| (2) |
An air service operator shall specify the method by which it is intended to determine minimum flight altitudes for operations conducted over routes for which minimum flight altitudes have not been established and shall include that method in an operations manual. |
| (3) |
A method for establishing minimum flight altitudes referred to in subregulation (2) shall be approved by the Director. |
| (4) |
An air service operator shall take into account the following factors when establishing minimum flight altitudes: |
| (a) |
the accuracy and reliability with which a position of an aeroplane can be determined; |
| (b) |
probable inaccuracies in the indications of the altimeters used; |
| (c) |
characteristics of a terrain along a route or in areas where operations are to be conducted; |
| (d) |
probability of encountering unfavourable meteorological conditions; |
| (e) |
possible inaccuracies in aeronautical charts; and |
| (f) |
airspace restrictions. |
| (5) |
In complying with the provisions of subregulation (4), an air service operator shall give due consideration to— |
| (a) |
corrections for temperature and pressure variations from standard values; and |
| (b) |
any contingency which may occur along a planned route. |
