Subpart 4 : Instructor Rating

106.04.8 Instructor privileges and limitations

 

(1) A holder of a flight instructor rating may conduct flight instruction in accordance with the endorsements added to a pilot logbook or pilot certificate, as applicable.

 

(2) An assistant hang-glider or paraglider flight instructor may—
(a) assist with ground training and ground skimming flights;
(b) present theoretical training;
(c) supervise a training flight, provided that such assistant hang-glider is already a holder of a pilot certificate or in the case of a paraglider is already a holder of a novice endorsement;
(d) supervise a training flight, provided that such applicant is already a holder of a pilot certificate or in the case of a paraglider is already a holder of a basic endorsement; and
(e) supervise a training flight from the beginning under the direct supervision of a Grade A, B, or C flight instructor, as applicable.

 

(3) A tandem flight instructor may only conduct flight training.

 

(4) A holder of a Grade B flight instructor rating may conduct training for any endorsement and rating excluding a Grade A flight instructor rating.

 

(5) A holder of a Grade A flight instructor rating may conduct training for any endorsement and rating.
