Subpart 1 : Hang-glider and Paraglider Certificate

106.01.14 Privileges and limitations of a learner

 

(1) A learner in terms of this Part may undergo solo, or dual flight training towards an issuance of a pilot certificate, category rating, or endorsement, provided that the training is conducted—
(a) in the category rating for which a pilot certificate is sought;
(b) in case of a solo flight, under supervision and as authorised in terms of this Part; and
(c) VMC by day.

 

(2) In the case of a tandem endorsement training authorisation, a learner shall fly with an appropriately endorsed tandem flight instructor as stipulated in the sequence of the training syllabus.

 

(3) A learner shall not undergo a solo cross-country flight unless such a learner has successfully completed training as prescribed in Document SA-CATS 106.

 

(4) Except in the case of an emergency, a learner shall land and take-off from a suitable training site.
