Subpart 4 : Designation of DUE

71.04.7 Privileges and limitations of DUE

 

(1) Notwithstanding the privileges provided to a DUE, the Director may place a restriction on a designation based on a holder’s recency in the applicable category and such restriction shall be endorsed on an RPC.

 

(2) A designated DUE who is a holder of—
(a) a multirotor designation may not conduct a test or a check for a holder of an aeroplane or helicopter RPC;
(b) an aeroplane designation may not conduct a test or a check for a holder of a multirotor or helicopter RPC; and
(c) a helicopter designation may not conduct a test or a check for a holder of a multirotor or aeroplane RPC.

 

(3) A designated DUE may exercise the privileges of a designation, provided that—
(a) an RPC for which a designation is based and an RPC instructor rating remain valid;
(b) in the case of a skills test, a DUE shall hold the category of RPC pertaining to a UAS on which the skills test is conducted, and shall be qualified as RPC instructor for a particular RPC category in which a skills test is conducted;
(c) in the case of an initial BVLOS test or a revalidation test for a BVLOS rating, a DUE shall hold a BVLOS rating; and
(d) in the case of an initial RPC instructor test or revalidation check for an RPC instructor rating, a DUE shall hold the category of RPC pertaining to an aircraft on which an initial test or revalidation check was conducted.

 

(4) A DUE may be qualified as RPC flight instructor for a particular category of UAS on which an initial test or revalidation check was conducted.

 

(5) A DUE may conduct a maximum of six tests, in terms of this Part, within a period of 24 hours, provided that such tests are done in compliance with applicable flight and duty requirements.
