Subpart 3 : RPC Instructor Rating

71.03.3 Ground Evaluation and Skills test for initial RPC Instructor Rating

 

(1) A skills test for initial RPC instructor rating for UAS category as a multirotor, helicopter, or aeroplane in which an instructor rating is sought shall be conducted by a DUE.

 

(2) Where an RPC instructor rating is sought in more than one category of UAS, a separate ground evaluation and skills test shall be conducted for each category sought.

 

(3) An applicant for an RPC instructor rating ground evaluation and skills test, shall provide a DUE with a letter of recommendation issued by an ATO indicating that such applicant—
(a) has satisfactorily completed 10 hours of ground lectures at an approved ATO; and
(b) is deemed competent to undertake ground evaluation and skills test.

 

(4) A letter of recommendation referred to in subregulation (3) shall be signed by a Chief UAS Instructor or a person designated by such instructor.

 

(5) A ground evaluation part of an initial RPC instructor rating test shall comprise of a mock class teaching evaluation and a presentation a full briefing on a subject that was given in advance to an applicant for RPC instructor rating, by a DUE.

 

(6) An applicant for RPC instructor rating shall proceed to do an RPC Instructor skills test upon successful completion of a ground evaluation.

 

(7) Where an initial RPC instructor rating test is unsuccessful, an applicant shall undergo a remedial training at an approved ATO.

 

(8) Upon completion of a remedial training referred to in subregulation (7), an ATO concerned shall issue an applicant with a letter of recommendation indicating that such applicant—
(a) has satisfactorily completed 10 hours of ground lectures at an approved ATO; and
(b) is deemed competent to undertake a ground evaluation and a skills test.
