E. Employee Benefits

31. SACTWU HIV/AIDS Project

 

31.1 For the purpose of providing for a fund to provide HIV/AIDS education and awareness in the workplace, each employer shall contribute 30c (thirty cents) per week per employee. Such contribution shall be made directly to the SACTWU Finance Department, on an annual basis, by no later than 31 January each year. The amount to be paid shall be calculated according to the number of employees in employ as at 30 November of the previous year. The union shall provide the employers with regular (at least bi-annual) reports on the activities of the SACTWU HIV/AIDS project.

 

31.2 As per the provisions of clause 31 of Part 1 of this Agreement, all employers in the Carpet section shall recognise HIV/AIDS awareness training as a skills priority area within their Workplace Skills Plans and shall schedule two hours paid time-off per employee per annum for HIV/AIDS awareness programmes co-ordinated by a HIV/AIDS Steering Committee at each establishment in association with the trade union's HIV/AIDS Project.

 

31.3 Each employer will allow employees half hour paid time off to celebrate World Aids Day at the employer's premises.
