16. Maternity Leave



16.1 During an employees first year of service the employee shall be entitled to four consecutive month's unpaid maternity leave.


16.2 After completion of one years uninterrupted service with an employer, employees shall be entitled to up to 6 month's maternity leave, of which 3 months will be paid at one third the employee's basic wage and 3 months unpaid.4



4 Employers will assist pregnant employees with claiming UIF from the Department of Labour
