Calculation of time periods |
| (1) | For the purpose of calculating time periods provided for in these Rules— |
| (a) | "day" means a calendar day; and |
| (b) | the first day is excluded and the last day is included, subject to sub-rule (2). |
| (2) | The last day of any period must be excluded if it falls on a Sunday, public holiday or on a day during the period between 16 December and 7 January 1. |

| 1 | This sub-rule is in line with the Interpretation Act of 1957. The effect of this is that time periods in the Rules and in the Act are calculated in the same manner, save that in the case of the Rules the shutdown period is added. |
