| (1) |
If, after consideration of the report of a surveyor, the Authority is satisfied that a vessel referred to in subsection (2)— |

| (b) |
is exempt, by virtue of the exercise by it of a power conferred on it by the regulations referred to in paragraph (a), from any of the requirements of the said regulations and is constructed and equipped in accordance with the remaining requirements, it shall cause to be issued in respect of the vessel— |
| (i) |
a local safety exemption certificate stating which of the said requirements the vessel is exempt from, and that the exemption is conditional on her being engaged only in the voyages or operations and complying with the other conditions (if any) specified in the certificates; and |
| (i) |
a local safety exemption certificate stating which of the said requirements the vessel is exempt from, and that the exemption is conditional on her being engaged only in the voyages or operations and complying with the other conditions (if any) specified in the certificates; and |
| (ii) |
a local general safety certificate stating that the vessel is constructed and equipped in accordance with the remaining requirements. |

| (2) |
The provisions of subsection (1) shall apply in respect of all— |
| (b) |
ships (other than passenger ships)— |
| (i) |
to which the Safety Convention does not apply and which are intended to be engaged in international voyages; or |

| (ii) |
of whatever size which are not intended to be engaged in international voyages, |
and which are or are to be registered or licensed in the Republic.
