In these regulations any word or expression given a meaning in the Act has that meaning and, unless the context indicates otherwise—
"property"
means personal effects, instruments, technical books, and tools;
"seaman"
has the meaning given in section 140(7) of the Act;
"ship"
means a South African ship;
"the Act"
means the Merchant Shipping Act, 1951 (Act No. 57 of 1951).
