| (1) | A candidate shall hold either a valid certificate of competency as a Deck Officer Class I Master Mariner or a certificate recognised by the Minister as being the equivalent thereof in order to gain admission to the written and oral parts of the examination. |
| (2) | A candidate who is in possesion of a certificate of competency as a Master (special grade), or a certificate recognised by the Minister as being the equivalent thereof, shall be exempted from the whole of the examination as a Compass Adjuster (Restricted) and from the written and oral parts of the examination as a Compass Adjuster (Unrestricted). |
