For the certificate of competency as skipper fishing (< 24m limited waters), a candidate shall—

ALTERNATIVE A: Candidates holding a certificate of competency as deck officer fishing (< 24m)

(1)	have, whilst holding, as a minimum, a certificate of competency as deck officer fishing (< 24m), at least 12 months sea service as an officer in charge of navigational watch of a fishing vessel of 12m or more in length on any seagoing fishing voyages; and

(2)	Have completed approved training and meet the standard of competence specified in the Code.

ALTERNATIVE B: Candidates holding a certificate of competency issued in terms of Division 1 of this Part

(1)	have, whilst holding, as a minimum, a certificate of competency as master (< 200GT near-coastal), at least six months sea service as an officer in charge of navigational watch of a fishing vessel of 12m or more in length on any seagoing fishing voyages; and

(2)	have completed approved training and meet the standard of competence specified in the Code.
