A person is suitable to conduct investigations into cases of alleged child abuse or neglect as contemplated in section 142(d) of the Act if such person—
(a) |
is a registered social worker in terms of the Social Service Professions Act, 1978, and is employed— |
(i) |
by the Department or a provincial department of social development; or |
(ii) |
by a designated child protection organisation; |
(b) |
has sufficient experience in the field of child protection or is working under the supervision of a person who has at least five years experience in child protection; |
(c) |
has not been found unsuitable to work with children and has no previous convictions relating to child abuse; |
(d) |
upholds the rights of the child and children's best interests; and |
(e) |
is able to work in a multi-disciplinary team with the objective of securing the best protection plan based on a child's developmental needs. |
