National Standard of Policing for Municipal Police Services on a Uniform Ranking Structure and Insignia

3. Ranks

 

(1) The ranks in the Municipal Police Service, in order of precedence, may only include the following:

Municipal Police Commissioner (appointed as Chief of Police or Executive

Head)

Deputy Municipal Police Commissioner

Brigadier

Colonel

Lieutenant-Colonel

Superintendent

Warrant Officer

Sergeant

Constable

 

(2) A member who, before the coming into operation of this National Standard of Policing, has been appointed in a municipal police service and held a rank mentioned in column 1 of the Schedule to this National Standard of Policing, will hold the corresponding rank mentioned in column 2 of the said Schedule.

 

(3) A member who, before the coming into operation of this National Standard of Policing, held a rank in a municipal police service, will, after the coming into operation of this National Standard of Policing, retain the salary, salary scale, allowances and benefits applicable to him or her before the coming into operation of this National Standard of Policing: Provided that where a rank no longer exists, the member will be entitled to the same salary, salary scale, allowances and benefits to which a member in the corresponding rank as set out in Column 2 of the said Schedule is entitled.

 

(4) Members of the municipal police service must be addressed as set out in Column 3 of the said Schedule.
