34E. Treatment of seized live specimens

 

(1) Pending the institution of any criminal proceedings in terms of this Act or a specific environmental management Act or the resolution of such proceedings, a live specimen that has been seized in terms of this Part may be deposited with a suitable institution, rescue centre or facility which is able and willing to house and properly care for it.

 

(2) For the purposes of this Chapter, seized live specimens may be disposed of in terms of section 30(a) of the Criminal Procedure Act, 1977.
