Despite anything to the contrary in this Chapter, the Minister may, in his or her sole discretion, request the President of the Republic to appoint a commission of inquiry in terms of section 84(2)(f) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996, and, in the event that an investigator has already commenced any other investigation in terms of this Part, the investigator must immediately, upon publication of a proclamation in the Gazette by the President, establishing a commission of inquiry, terminate that investigation and submit all evidence or other relevant information in its, his or her possession to that commission of inquiry.
