Department of Social Development
The Minister for Social Development has, in terms of the Social Assistance Act, 2004 (Act No. 13 of 2004), with the concurrence of the Minister of Finance, announced an increase in social grants.
The new maximum monthly amounts are as follows:

The increase will be effected on 1 April 2008. Child support grant will increase by R10 on 1 April 2008 and by a further R10 on 1 October 2008 (R220).
