National Treasury Releases Draft 2026/27 Departmental Financial Statement Template
Brought to you by SA Accounting Academy: The Office of the Accountant General within the National Treasury has released the Draft 2026/27 Departmental Financial Statement Template for public comment and testing on the Modified Cash Standard (MCS) Hub.
In terms of the Public Finance Management Act, No. 1 of 1999 (PFMA), the National Treasury is responsible for prescribing framework standards to ensure uniform treasury control. To support consistent financial reporting across government departments, the Office of the Accountant General has made this draft template available to allow departments and practitioners to test its functionality, review reporting requirements, and identify potential alignment issues before finalisation.
Stakeholders are requested to carefully review the draft template and submit their technical feedback and comments by no later than 21 July 2026. Submissions will be used to ensure the final template is practical, accurate, and aligned with the Modified Cash Standard.
To access the draft template and participate in the feedback process, use the following resources:
- Access the draft template on the MCS Knowledge Hub — Exposure Drafts.
- Participate in the technical discussion forum on the National Treasury LMS Forum.
