To provide for an environment in which non-profit organisations can flourish; to establish an administrative and regulatory framework within which non-profit organisations can conduct their affairs; to repeal certain portions of the Fund-raising Act, 1978; and to provide for matters connected therewith.

The Non-Profit Organisations Act, 1997, has been added to the site as published in Government Gazette 18487, dated 3 December 1997, and is completely up to date, including regulations. The latest amendment to the Act being the Non-Profit Organisations Amendment Act, 2000. This Act came into operation on the 1 September 1998.
