| 1) | The National Commissioner determines the security measures applicable at correctional centres. |
| 2) |
| a) | A inmate who is removed temporarily from a correctional centre must at all times be in the safe custody of a correctional official subject to paragraph (b). |
| b) | Where a inmate temporarily removed from a correctional centre is to appear before a Court, or for purposes of a criminal investigation he or she may be placed in the safe custody of a member of the South African Police Services instead. |
| 3) | If an inmate is temporarily removed from a correctional centre, all necessary precautions must be taken to protect him or her from public abuse or curiosity. |
