I Mr. Gwede Mantashe, Minister of Minerals Resources and Energy acting under section 28 of the National Nuclear Regulator Act, 1999 (Act No. 47 of 1999), on the recommendation of the NNR Board and in consultation with the Minister of Finance and by notice in the Government Gazette hereby determine the fees contained in the attached schedule payable to the Regulator in respect of—

 

(a) any application for the granting of a nuclear authorisation.
(b) an annual nuclear authorisation fee increase of 5.7% for the financial year (2022-23).

 

The fees shall be payable to the National Nuclear Regulator of South Africa, for the period of 01 April 2022 to 31 March 2023 by the licensed holders concerned.

The fees payable by new applicants to the Nuclear Regulator for its regulatory services have increase from an hourly rate of R2,205 for 2021-22 financial year to an hourly rate of R2,331 for the 2022-23 financial year.

 

Authorisation fees shall be billed annually in advance and payment of such fees shall be due within thirty (30) days of issuance of invoice. Interest shall accrue on the outstanding amount after 30 days of the issuance of the invoice.

 

Furthermore, Interest shall be calculated on the daily balance owing and compounded monthly. The interest rate determined by the Minister of Finance in terms of Section 80 of the Public Finance Management Act 1999, (Act no. 1 of 1999) shall be applicable.
