Water and Sanitation: Comments Invited on Draft Strategic Framework for Service Provision

Published under the broad regulatory mandate of the Water Services Act, No. 108 of 1997, the draft policy is intended to replace and update the prevailing 2003 Strategic Framework for Water Services. The framework sets out overarching policy objectives, institutional arrangements, and regulatory oversight models governing municipal water service authorities and water service providers across South Africa.
According to the notice, the draft strategic framework focuses on restructuring operational models, addressing infrastructure backlogs, strengthening compliance enforcement, and updating financial sustainability models for municipal water delivery.
No specific closing date for the submission of public comments was stipulated in the gazetted notice.
