Border Management Authority Act: New Regulations Gazetted
Brought to you by SA Legal Academy: The Department of Home Affairs has published new regulations under the Border Management Authority Act, No. 2 of 2020, repealing and replacing previous personnel and administrative provisions.
In terms of the Border Management Authority Act, No. 2 of 2020, the newly gazetted regulations came into immediate effect upon publication. The updated framework focuses on administrative governance and personnel matters within the Border Management Authority.
The revised regulations address several operational and administrative areas, including:
- Terms and administrative conditions governing border management personnel;
- Governance structures for operational staff at ports of entry; and
- Standardized administrative procedures across border control services.
What this means for you, your business, or your clients
- For yourself: No direct individual obligations; impact is limited to administrative and personnel management within the border control authority.
- For your business: Logistics, shipping, and cross-border transport operators should ensure operational teams are aware of administrative procedures governing border personnel at land, sea, and air ports of entry.
- For your clients: Commercial importers and exporters should maintain strict compliance with border documentation requirements as administrative protocols under the Act take effect.
