The objective of this determination is to introduce a revised salary level for the Deputy Directors of Public Prosecutions (DDPP) and Chief Public Prosecutors (CPP) in terms of section 18 and 19 of the NPA Act, 32 of 1998 with effect from 1 April 2022 as well as further amendments:
| • | This revised salary level allows the starting salary on appointment to the position of DDPP and CPP to be above the minimum of Grade 1 in instances where an employee is already earning equal to or higher than the minimum of Grade 1. An employee in this instance will then on appointment to a promotional post be awarded the next higher available notch from his/her current salary within the extended salary range. Employees earning less than the minimum salary of Grade 1 will on appointment as DDPP of CPP be appointed on the minimum of Grade 1. |
| • | Progress is possible with pay progression through the extended range (grade 1 and grade 2) based on the annual performance outcome. |
| • | DDPPs and CPPs will with the revised salary level remain within the SMS dispensation with retention of all terms and conditions including the pension fund regime. |
