I, Mpho Parks Tau, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition hereby, in terms of Section 15A of the Merchandise Marks Act, 1941 (Act No. 17 of 1941) hereinafter referred to as ("the Act"), declare the 2026 rugby Greatest Rivalry Tour as a "protected event" including the relevant marks, words and emblems in terms of section 15(1) as attached in Annexure A.

 

1. The protected event status will be conferred on the South African Rugby Union on the understanding that the event is in the public interest.

 

2. This Notice expressly provides that proprietors of identical or similar marks already in use will not be affected.

 

The date of the "protected event" is the 07 August 2026 to the 12 September 2026.
