| (1) | The Chief Executive Officer may, in the prescribed manner, appoint an employee of the National Regulator or any designated verification body, with the prescribed competencies, as a verification officer to verify measuring instruments of any particular kind in accordance with this Act. |
| (2) | The Chief Executive Officer must furnish a verification officer with a certificate stating that the verification officer may undertake verifications in terms of this Act. |
