South African Boxing Act, 2001 (Act No. 11 of 2001)

1. Definitions

 

In this Act, unless the context indicates otherwise—

 

"boxer"

means any person to whom a certificate of registration as such has been issued in terms of section 7(1)(c);

 

"Boxing SA"

means the Boxing Commission contemplated in section 4;

 

"manager"

means any person to whom a certificate of registration as such has been issued in terms of section 7(1)(c);

 

"Minister"

means the Minister of Sport and Recreation;

 

"official"

means any referee, judge, timekeeper, assistant timekeeper, announcer, second or ringmaster to whom a certificate of registration as such been issued in terms of section 7(1)(c);

 

"prescribed"

means prescribed by regulation made under section 34;

 

"promoter"

means any person to whom a certificate of registration as a promoter has been issued in terms of section 7(1)(c);

 

"tournament"

means any function to which the public have access, whether on payment of a charge for admission or not, and at which two or more licensed professional boxers engage in boxing for gain, whether by way of competition, exhibition or otherwise; and

 

"trainer"

means any person to whom a certificate of registration as such has been issued in terms of section 7(1)(c);
