| 1. | By virtue of powers vested in me in terms of Section 10(3)(b)(iv) of the Competition Act, 1998 (Act No. 89 of 1998), I Ebrahim Pate, Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition hereby— |
| (a) | after consultation with the Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development, extend the current period of designation of the sugar industry as determined in Government Gazette No. 43466, for a period of 24 months, in line with the objectives of the Sugar Masterplan, as set out in the Explanatory Memo published on 23 June 2020 in Notice No. R 700 of Government Gazette No. 43466; and |
| (b) | determine that this Notice shall commence on 1 July 2021. |
| 2. | The extension of the designation thus supports the continued economic development, growth, transformation and stability of the sugar industry in line with the objectives of the Sugar Masterplan. |
