Draft Legal Practice Amendment Bill Released for Public Comment
Brought to you by SA Legal Academy: The Department of Justice & Constitutional Development has published a notice inviting public commentary on the draft Legal Practice Amendment Bill following Cabinet approval.
The proposed legislation seeks to amend key provisions of the Legal Practice Act, No. 28 of 2014. Following approval by Cabinet on 29 July 2026 for public consultation, the Department has formally opened the consultation process to solicit feedback from legal practitioners, professional bodies, and the public.
Submissions on the draft Bill must be submitted in writing by no later than 11 September 2026.
