Part II : Format and Quality

 

2. The format and quality of any document shall be the format and quality in which the producer originally made any edition, re-edition, or reprint generally available, unless otherwise authorised by the Committee.

 

3. If a book is published simultaneously in hard- and softcover editions, only the hardcover edition shall be supplied to the prescribed places of legal deposit, but in the case of the State Library, both the hardcover and softcover editions shall be supplied.

 

4. In the case of a microform and a video, the deposit copy shall be of a quality appropriate for long-term preservation and copying. In the case of a video, in order to preserve the master, one copy may be made exclusively for in-house archival use. It may also be converted to another electronic medium for preservation purposes only, at no cost to the publisher.

5. A dynamic electronic document shall be supplied only on instruction from the State Library, which shall specify the format or modality of access that it requires.

 

6. In the case of a cinematographic film the deposit copy shall be a new, unused married print. In order to preserve the master, the place of legal deposit may make one copy exclusively for in-house archival use. It may also be converted to another electronic medium for preservation purposes only, at no cost to the publisher.

7. In the case of a sound recording that is published in more than one medium, copies of each type shall be supplied. In order to preserve the master, one copy may be made exclusively for in-house archival use. It may also be converted to another electronic medium for preservation purposes only, at no cost to the publisher.
