52. Dispensing of medicines

 

(1) A medical practitioner, dentist or other person registered in terms of this Act
(a) may compound or dispense medicines only on the authority and subject to the conditions of a licence granted by the Director-General in terms of the Medicines and Related Substances Act, 1965 (Act No. 101 of 1965);
(b) shall not be entitled to keep an open shop or pharmacy.

 

(2) For the purposes of this section 'open shop' means a situation where the supply of medicines and scheduled substances to the public is not done by prescription by a person authorised to prescribe medicine.
