| 1) | These regulations are the Consumer Protection Act Regulations. |
| 2) | In these regulations, unless the context indicates otherwise, any word or expression to which a meaning has been assigned in the Act has the same meaning, and— |
"Act"
means the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 (Act No. 68 of 2008);
"Department"
means the Department of Trade and Industry;
"in writing"
includes any electronic means recognised by the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002 (Act No. 25 of 2002); and
"public officer"
means that person defined in Chapter III (General Provisions) of Part V of the Income Tax Act, 1962 (Act 58 of 1962).
