No act or omission of whatever nature by the Director-General, Registration Officer or any officer or other person performing functions under the authority of the Director-General or Registration Officer, as the case may be, in terms of this Act, shall subject the Director-General, the Registration Officer, or any such officer or person to any liability for any loss or damage sustained by any person as a result of any such act or omission, unless such act or omission was in bad faith or constituted gross negligence.
