| 8.1 | The Department having considered the language demographics report published in Census 2011 by the Statistician-General in terms of the Statistics Act, 1999 (Act No. 6 of 1999), and taking into account the guiding principles and values in paragraph 5 above, as contemplated in section 4 of the Act, determines the use of official languages as indicated below, subject to the availability of resources. |
| 8.2 | It is determined that English is the language of record for the Department. |
| 8.3 | It is further determined that in the national office the following languages are selected for official use: |
| 8.3.1 | English; |
| 8.3.2 | Sesotho; |
| 8.3.3 | Afrikaans; and |
| 8.3.4 | isiZulu. |
