| (1) | If the Director-General is satisfied that the fire protection officer will be able to enforce the Act, he or she must— |
| (a) | enter the details of the fire protection officer into a register of fire protection officers; and |
| (b) | issue a registration certificate and a registration number. |
| (2) | If the Director-General refuses to register a fire protection officer, he or she must state in writing, and within a reasonable time, the reasons for his or her refusal, and steps that the fire protection officer may take in order to qualify for registration. |
