17. Membership of married women

 

A married woman, whether under marital power or not, may without her husband’s consent be a member of a society, and may without assistance execute all necessary documents and give all necessary acquittances, and any benefit granted to her shall, as between the husband and the wife, be her sole and separate property free from his control, and she shall furthermore, unless otherwise provided by the rules, be qualified to be an officer of a society.
