1) | The promotion of equality and non-discrimination between individuals with HIV infection and those without, and between HIV/AIDS and other comparable health/medical conditions. |
2) | The creation of a supportive environment so that HIV infected employees are able to continue working under normal conditions in their current employment for as long as they are medically fit to do so. |
3) | The protection of human rights and dignity of people living with HIV or AIDS is essential to the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS. |
4) | HIV/AIDS impacts disproportionately on women and this should be taken into account in the development of workplace policies and programmes. |
5) | Consultation, inclusivity and encouraging full participation of all stakeholders are key principles which should underpin every HIV/AIDS policy and programme. |
