Consumer Affairs (Unfair Business Practices) Act, 1988 (Act No. 71 of 1988)15. Penalties |
A person shall be liable on conviction of--
| a) | an offence under section 6(3) or 8(7), to a fine not exceeding R20 000 or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding two years or to both that fine and that imprisonment; |
| b) | an offence under section 12(7) in relation to a notice published in the Gazette, or under section 11(3), to a fine not exceeding R200 000 or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding five years or to both that fine and that imprisonment; |
| c) | any other offence under this Act, to a fine not exceeding R4 000 or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding 12 months or to both that fine and that imprisonment. |
