I, Dr A Motsoaledi, the Minister of Health, in terms of Section 36 of the Medicines and Related Substances Act, (Act No. 101 of 1965, as amended)("the Act") and on unanimous recommendation of the Pricing Committee, hereby excludes all Schedule 0 medicines registered in terms of Section 15 of the Act, as well as Category D complementary medicines, from the operations of Sections 22G and 18A of the Act for a period of two (2) years from the date of publication of this Notice.
Stakeholders are hereby notified that the Director-General of the Department of Health will, in due course, by notice in the Government Gazette, request the submission of information relating to Schedule 0 medicines for the purpose of conducting a comprehensive review to evaluate possible future exclusions and to guide the continuous development of an evidence-based, transparent, and sustainable pricing policy on Schedule 0 and complementary medicines.
Manufacturers, importers of a medicines or scheduled substances, who are the applicants of medicines and all interested stakeholders are hereby required to comply with such request within the timeframe specified in the notice issued by the Director-General, and to submit the requested information in the prescribed manner.
