Ministrial Immigration Directive No. 10 of 2026

Blanket Waiver: Requirement to submit a Medical Report for VISA and Permanent Residence Applications

I, Dr L. A. Schreiber, MP, Minister of Home Affairs, with the powers vested in me in terms of section 31(2)(c) of the Immigration Act, 2002 (Act No. 13 of 2002) ("Immigration Act"), hereby grant a waiver to applicants for a visa to temporarily sojourn in the Republic, as well as applicants for a permanent residence permit, of the requirements prescribed in subregulations 9(1)(c) and 23(1)(f), respectively, of the Immigration Regulations made under section 7 of the said Act in so far as it concerns the submission of a medical report.

The above comes into operation on the date of signature of this directive and applies to all future applications for a visa or a permanent residence permit, as well as to applications currently pending adjudication.

The contents of this Immigration Directive must be brought to the attention of all officials in the permitting environment and also be published on the VFS website.
