| (1) | Any citizen referred to in section 3(1)(b), other than a citizen in respect of whom section 21(1) or 35 applies, or any person (other than a citizen) domiciled in the Republic, may apply to serve in the commandos, and may be enrolled therein on such conditions and in such manner as may be prescribed. |
| (2) | A citizen or person referred to in subsection (1), shall be liable to render the service mentioned in section 44(3)(a) for which he is called up, until he has been officially discharged from the commandos. |
